Born in Blantyre (in the southern part of Malawi), William started singing at church at the age of 7. At the age of 10 he started composing songs for his younger sisters and his love for music has grown since then. After completing school he saw his ambition of becoming full-fledged musician grow steadily that he later composed and wrote songs, and formed a group known as WEK in 2002. During this time he developed to become a band leader, composer, arranger, and video director of the group. In 2004 he became a song composer and writer for the Great Angels Choir while, on the other hand, serving as Church Youth Chairperson.

William has, on the local scene, worked with famous gospel and secular artists or groups including Ndirande Anglican Voices, late Grace Chinga, Lucius Banda, and Skeffa Chimoto. He has also shared stage with international artists including Don Moen (USA), Uche (Nigeria), and Busy Signal (Jamaica).
